Sabina's Montgomery had his first taste of hunting this month with The Wilton. He and Dani thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The New Forest Pony colt Haywards Hennessy has passed his two year old stallion inspection and vetting with the NFPB&CS and is now a licenced stallion.

Congratulations to Lisa and Rolo (Stafford Gremlin II). They came 1st the 2ft3in novice class at the Poole & District PC Open Hunter Trial this month. Last month they came 4th in the Junior WH Pony class at the New Forest Pony Breed Show. We sold Rolo to Lisa in May of this year.

Coswarth Fair Damsel (Ambershine Finishing Touch x Piran Camilla) has joined our broodmare herd. Coswarth Fair Damsel is the last daughter of Piran Camillla and therefore aunt to the late Mandalin War Bonnet and Rochand Quest. We are thrilled to have these pony lines in our broodmare herd once again.

Our 2 year old New Forest Pony colt Haywards Hennessy, bred by Pete and Mandy Pidgley, attended the BEF Futurity Young Horse Evaluations at Catherston Stud on 18th August. He was evaluated as a potential dressage pony and awarded a 1st Premium. He was also Regional Reserve Champion Two Year Old Sports Pony. This is a fantastic achievement, not least because he is the first New Forest Pony to have gained a 1st Premium in the history of the Futurity. Hennessy is by Long Copse Elton out of a Smiler of Sheepwash mare.

Sabina's Alfie Moon and Dani went to a local show jumping competition. They entered two classes and came home with two 2nd place rosettes! Only baby jumps, (2ft and 2ft3in), but all good practice.

Very sad news. Rochand Quest II (Isadora) suffered a fatal accident in the field and had to be put to sleep. This is a huge blow for us - Isadora was such a lovely mare with beautiful bloodlines and a huge personality. We all miss her very much.

Sabina's Alfie Moon, ridden by Dani, attended his first Hunter Trial this month. Once he got into the swing of it he really enjoyed himself and was soon showing off his big bold jump. See photo below.

Winter has now truly set in and the ponies are enjoying a well earned rest. Roll on Spring 2009!

A new arrival at Rochand this month. Dani and I went to the Beaulieu Road Sales (the auction sales used by New Forest Commoners to sell their ponies) and came came home with Busketts Pagan! Pagan is a chestnut New Forest Pony colt foal by Moortown Nobby. He is a well built, stocky, young man born and bred on the Forest. With his pedigree and athletic movement he ought to be able to turn his hoof to anything.

Sabina's Montgomery and Sabina's Alfie Moon have been out clear round jumping this month. Below is a photo of Sabina's Montgomery and Dani in the 2ft 9in class.

Below is a photograph of Ralphie G sent to us by Julie. Ralphie G is a 4 year old gelding by Goshka Ringo out of our Connemara mare, Kinlara Champagne Rose. By all accounts he is doing very well and has a wonderful easy temperment. Many thanks to Julie for sharing it with us.

Fleetwater Cascade is being backed. She seems to be relishing the challenge and enjoying her work. We shall keep this page updated with her progress.

Rochand Bright Spark is still on box rest following his injury in the field two and a half months ago. Unfortunately, this has meant that he cannot be presented for grading this year. However, he is making good, if slow, progress and will be aimed at the 2009 SPSS grading.

Congratualtions to Lauren and her family on the purchase of the New Forest Pony gelding Stafford Gremlin II. Wishing you every success together.

Stafford Gremlin II and Dani came fifth in the 2'6" Novice class at the West Hants PC Hunter Trial held on Shirley Common. It was a very large class and also Stafford Gremlin II's first HT competition - I think we can safely say he enjoys cross country!

Sabina's Alfie Moon has gone out on loan. Good luck Justine, we are sure you and Alfie are going to have lots of fun together.
